Originally from
Argentina, Cecilia has grown working in the Jewish community. Her
experience as an educator goes back to 1995 when after obtaining her
certification as a madricha she was selected to work in the Sociedad
Hebraica Argentina as a group counselor. In the States, Cecilia has
served as Program Coordinator for Arachim, a two-year project funded
by the Jewish Federation bringing together teens in 8th and 9th
grade from six neighboring Jewish synagogues of the Los Angeles
South Bay area. She has developed Youth Departments at Temple
Menorah in Redondo Beach, and in Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center,
doubling membership in her first year as a Youth Director for the
Pasadena USY Chapter. In 2005, after participating in the Moving Out
of the Box, a workshop to include Israeli Folk Dance into Jewish
education at the Skirball Center, Cecilia started teaching
Israeli Folk Dance regularly both in Jewish organizations and in the
Los Angeles Unified School District through Keshet Chaim. And was
after encountering such a positive response from the Jewish
community that she started the training sessions for Israeli Folk
Dance instructors to fulfill the big demand. Today, she is proud to
say that Keshet has a great staff of trained Israeli Folk Dance
instructors, with a successful curriculum working in more than a
dozen Jewish organizations. Cecilia is the Cultural Arts and Dance
Director for Camp Ramah in California and has recently been selected
to participate in the March of the Living in 2009 as a group
coordinator as she understands the importance of educating and
transmitting our history as well as our Folklore.
Cecilia obtained her Psychology degree from the American Jewish
University (formerly University of Judaism) in 2006, complementing
her two previous degrees in Graphic Design and in Communications
from the ORT Technological Institute in Argentina.
